About us
We have developed an online application for automatic transcription of speech, and we keep improving it. Our Beey editor is a powerful tool for journalists, video producers, lecturers, scribes, and a wider scale of users from Youtubers to multinational media agencies. The process of transcription, editing, subtitling, translating, exporting which would normally take hours to complete, are now ready within minutes.
Beey beginnings
First concept
spring 2018
The first concept for Beey originated with Ewa Balejová in the spring of 2018, considering a modern replacement and addition to our existing software tools. She convinced every one of the merits of an online application for editing automatic transcripts as opposed to the already existing installed program.
Prototype
May 2018
Our colleague Martin Španěl reacted to this impulse with a working prototype. We were impressed by his solution, which made it possible to edit an ongoing transcription.
Beta version
July 1st 2018
The first development version was to be completed on July 1st 2018 as a birthday gift for our CEO and owner of NEWTON Technologies, Petr Herian. In the end, we did not manage to meet this deadline, as well as a number of subsequent deadlines 🙂
Why Beey?
The original and apt name was chosen by our marketing manager Ondřej Klimeš. Are you wondering why “Beey” specifically and what exactly it means? Just ask Ondřej.
Back-end
The author and brains behind the application’s backend solution is Ladislav Šeps.
Front-end
Our frontend code, which determines the appearance of the user interface, is being continuously maintained (and refactored!) by Martin Podloucký.
Linguistics
Transcription quality and language development is overseen by our linguist Lenka Weingartová.
Czechitas
We are proud to have a team which includes young programmers – graduates from the Czechitas course, Barbora Skálová and Andra Nistor.
